Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, Cooley and Sossaman Middle Schools will have early release every Wednesday at 1:35 PM to support teacher professional development. This weekly change aims to enrich learning experiences and strengthen classroom instruction by giving staff dedicated time to reflect, plan, and grow, benefiting your student’s education in a meaningful way.
This summer, kids 18 and under can enjoy free meals through the USDA Summer Food Service Program—no registration or income requirements. Meals are available at sites across Arizona and may include breakfast, lunch, snacks, or supper. Find a site near you at azhealthzone.org/freesummermeals or text "Food" or "Comida" to 304-304.
We are excited to announce the Higley Unified School District Governing Board has selected and approved David Loutzenheiser for the role of Superintendent beginning in the 2025-26 School Year. Mr. Loutzenheiser is the current Executive Director of Secondary Education and Athletics for Higley Unified and is looking forward to continuing to work with students, staff and families. Welcome to Cooley Athletics! 1st quarter tryouts will run during the first full week of school. 1st quarter sports are Girls Volleyball, Baseball, Wrestling and Cheer You are only able to choose one sport for each quarter in Register My Athlete (Aktivate). All athletes need to be registered and cleared in Register My Athlete (Aktivate) prior to tryouts. Please visit the Cooley website under the Athletic tab for detailed registration information and the physical packet. **Please note that registrations and uploads done over the summer break will not be looked at until we return to the office on July 14th after 12:00 p.m.

Our school code is 16443 if you are just going to the order center or you can scan the QR code on the flyer below. The cost is $40 and the last day to purchase a yearbook is April 12th. Be sure and order early, as we may run out!

The Higley Unified School District Governing Board meeting schedule can be found on the district website at husd.org/board-meetings. The public is welcome to attend all board meetings. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the meetings. Board Business Meetings and Work Study Sessions are livestreamed on the district YouTube channel. Please note, Points of Pride, Higley Adventures, and Requests to Speak are not included during the Work Study meetings.
We would like to remind families who are interested in making a tax credit donation this season, that this can be made for any one of our schools through our HUSD website.
An individual may claim a nonrefundable tax credit for making cash contributions or for certain fees paid to a public school located in Arizona.
To qualify for the credit, an individual must make contributions for qualifying expenditures per A.R.S. § 43-1089.01. The credit is equal to the amount of fees paid or cash contributions, not to exceed $400 for married filing joint filers and $200 for all other filing statuses.
